What you need to know about lubricant.
Do I need lube, yes. Many women experience vaginal dryness for different reasons, menopause, naturully dry days, or breastfeeding. Sex is so much better without the frustration of friction.
Lubrication will save you time and frustration, The older we get it takes our bodies a little long to stimulate and increase vaginal lubrication.
There are many types lubrication, waterbased, silicone based, flavored, warming, cooling and so on.
Most lubricants on are water-based. Which are much better for people with sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin I suggest you look for something on the hypoallergenic side. “If you are sensitive to certain ingredients, you may want to steer clear of products that contain propylene glycol or chlorhexidine, which can cause irritation in some women.”
Warming creates a warm added sensation, that increases sensitivity. Only a little is needed, the warming can be a bit much for woman with really sensative skin. Cooling is cooling usually cold to the touch.
Oil-based lubricants can provide great lubrication with a less “slick” feel. “Some doctors recommend olive oil as an option,” “But be careful about these oil-based products. They can cause latex condoms to rip. However, they are safe to use with polyurethane condoms.” And most experts conclude that oil-based lubricants are typically best for male use and not ideal for the vagina.
Flavored lubricants may help with oral sex with your partner, there is a variety of flavors. “For the best possible experience, make sure it’s a great-tasting, sugar-free formula.” (Important note for women and men with diabetes: Many flavored lubricants can contain sugar.)
“Silicone lubricant is moisturizing and doesn’t break down in water, so it is extremely long-lasting. It’s also great for massage, and hair conditioner.” But this lubricant comes with a hazard warning: “If it spills on the floor, it can be very slippery,” so wipe up with soap and water completely.
Hybrid lubricant is a mixture of silicone and waterbased, creating a lubricant that is long lasting and silky smooth, yet washes out easily with water and does not stain. Paraben free, oil free; 100 % latex safe; extremely long lasting; and washes off easily with water.
“Organic,” “all natural,” even “eco-friendly” and “green.” You may have seen this type of labeling on lubricants in adult stores. The more natural the product, the fewer additives it contains, the less likely you’ll have any reaction.
